efforts in catastrophic situations. It started with volunteers in Sri
Lanka after the Banda Ache tsunami and has now grown to where it is
being used in international responses. They have just started a
non-profit to make it a stable world-wide resource. (It has a variety of
different modules, individual organizations can use whichever they need,
and can install it on their own servers, or, increasingly, on shared or
donated resources. It has modules for logistics, volunteer management,
family reunification, etc.)
Sahana is being deployed in Haiti and they desperately need people to
help translate it into French (and Creole). The way it worked for
Myanmar was that all the user-facing messages were listed in one long
list, and volunteers would sign up to translate/validate blocks of text
strings.
